Sensory-Friendly Movie showing of: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

AMC Neshaminy 24
3900 Rockhill Dr / Neshaminy Mall
Bensalem, PA 19020
215-396-8050

Cost: $6.00

AMC Entertainment and the Autism Society of America have teamed up to bring families affected by autism a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting enviroment on a monthly basis.

With Sensory Friendly Films, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down.

The "Silence is Golden" rule will not be enforced. People can talk, stim, jump, sing, do anything that they need to. It is designed to be a friendly supportive atmosphere.

The movie will be shown in Neshaminy's largest theater. If you check for tickets online you will see that the movie is listed as sold out. AMC does this to prevent people from purchasing the tickets for what they think is a regular showing with previews etc.... You prepurchase tickets at the Neshaminy box office but not online. However, there should be plenty of room.

There will be no previews or ads. Arrive on time. The movie will start at 10.

There will be a quiet theater available that has no movie running. If someone would like a break they can go to that nearby theater to unwind.

You can bring in your own food.

Enjoy the movie!

2010 AUTISM PUZZLE RIBBON CAMPAIGN

SPREAD AUTISM AWARENESS IN YOUR SCHOOL

April is Autism Awareness Month.  The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Autism Society of America helps to spread Autism Awareness by providing FREE Autism Puzzle Ribbons to Pennsylvania schools in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.  Nominate your school so that they can receive ribbons for every student and staff member at your school!  The Chapter distributes Autism Awareness Ribbons to help start or compliment awareness activities in schools.  Schools may receive the ribbons already assembled or receive the materials to assemble the ribbons.  Assembling the ribbons makes a great service or vocational project.  The Chapter likes to hear about awareness projects.  Schools may send pictures or letters explaining how their particular school spreads awareness to the address listed below.  Items received before April 15, 2010 will be displayed at Autism Awareness Day at the Philadelphia Zoo on April 18, 2010.  They may also be published in our Chapter NEWSLETTER.

WHAT IS A PUZZLE RIBBON?

When you wear this ribbon it will show your support for individuals with Autism and help raise Awareness.  The puzzle pattern of the Autism Ribbon reflects the mystery and complexity of Autism.  The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the people and families living with the disorder.  The brightness of the ribbon signals hope; hope through research and through increasing awareness of people like you.
